Aeon's ago, in the halcyon days... when 'Middle-Earth' was still a home to the Hobbits nd Elves nd there existed White, Blue, Grey nd Red Mountains i had a friend Serra -- a total cherubim... nd then afterwards i went on to live my life... go to school, play, eat, sleep... answer board exams do engineering...
Yesterday, it was a few decades later again that i met Serra...and she seems quite-still-the-same.... The same cute chubby cheeks, angelic smile, pink frock nd ribbons in hair nd not to forget the wand she always carried and called "magical"....
Well moving on with the story, we were having a good time... made some chocolate milk, got some cookies nd got talking... all bout d Barbie of hers i had stolen to why Cinderella had lost her sandals... One thing led to another nd another nd suddenly she was reminded of Nandu another 'Middle-Earth' time friend....
I started telling her of Nandu.. How he too went to school pretty much the same time i did... How he adored d 'daal-chaawal' nd other ghar ka khana... How he would wail when his cycle brakes would fail.. then he went to college nd... started (((( smoking )))).... Nd then one day i lost a bet ( something of the likes whether Neil Armstrong-build-the-Taj-or-he-was-the-first-to-propose-the-evolution-story ) to him nd he wanted me to gift him a cigi and since i had said a BIG----NO---- he wouldn't talk to me...
Do not question me of how-nd-when it happened but before i could realize Nandu was gulping chocolate milk from his own glass, sitting on my bed....
Nandu to Me : Dipsy u miser... i kept waiting for my gift...
Me to Nandu : N...a...an..d..u..... how did u ...here...???(shock !! shock !!)
Nandu to Me : ab topic mat change karo... my cigi...
you still have to gimme my gift...
Me to Nandu : kuck aur re..aint gifting u a cigi....
wat bout chai???
Nandu : wat!!!(disbelief)
jo vaada kiya woh nibhanaa padega...
i want my gift wrapped cigi.... :((
Me : but hum cigi kaise kharedenge... mere image ka kya hoga???
Nandu : paanwaale ko tumse kya lena dena... they treat customers very well....
" Marlboro Lights" ek dijiye bolna....
nd image... Gurgaon mein khareedna... koi tension nahi...
Me : agar koi dekh ke community mein post kar diya toh??? ((( scare !! scare !! )))
Nandu : turrant khareedke handbag mein daal lena....
trust me... hum baccha lenge...
a bet is a bet....
i wont smoke... will just keep it...
Me : tab in that case i'll give it a thought... whethr i shuld gift u a cigi or not...
some ill day u might forget its a gift, tear open the wrap nd smoke it...
Nandu : no i wont... i also respect gifts...
smokers are also humans... we have hearts nd emotions too..
do you think we are stone hearted people who don't value anything....
Me : seriously...
u think it is something to be proud of ??
funda nahi de rahein hain... coz i know they wont work
Nandu : no.. sometimes yes....
Me : yes ??? (((( disbelief ))))
Nandu : me do it for 2 reasons...
1. restless fingers
2. u dont think much while smoking... relax karte ho...
Me : hmmm.... interesting... so u smoke to take your mind off from things...
toh bas dhuan udate ho...
Nandu : 3. for the sake of it bhi hota hai...
Me : when u get restless fingers... try pedicure...
dunno much of what m saying...
aise hi soch rahe the ki fingers se kya kar sakte hain....
knead dough... build a sand castle...
Nandu : chat on gtalk...
Me : d best....
Nandu : or scrap on orkut...
Me : 2nd best... :)
i think ill make a blog entry on this...
Nandu : you shall immortalize me... ;) in a work of fiction....
...... nd we went on nd on nd on... until all the chocolate milk was over nd even the cookie crumbs were licked clean off the plate....
Sidenote ##1 : This post is dedicated to two of my friends... A 'Smoker' nd a Non-Smoker'...thats the much i can sat bout them.. (m sure both of you guys know m talking of you :D )
Sidenote ##2 : To all you people reading this post please put some sense into the 'Smoker' friend of mine... If you plan to put a comment ( wud make me very happy ;)) please add two lines of how harmful a cigi can be......

1. why cant u use some simpler words.. mere jaise kamjor vocab wale logon ka bhi khayal kiya karo.. /*over reacting*/
2. agree with atul.. a great story teller.. u kept me sticking to a page for this long!! worth an effort.. usually i dont read stories.. bas upar upar se padke i comment.. but phew.. u made me read it.. accha hai!! good good.. /*applause*/
